market axess MarketAxess is a bond trading platform for institutional investors. Spacesmith worked closely with MarketAxess on their decision to relocate from Downtown to Park Avenue . The move was an opportunity to establish a fresh, updated look designed to express MarketAxess culture and energy. The space on the whole is an elegant balance of soft grays, dark woods and walls of glass with varying degrees of transparency. Full height glass fronted offices are punctured with dark, rift oak doors and frames that seem to stand by their own weight. Sleek rows of trading desks are lit with recessed light bars that slice the ceiling from end to end. A deep blue undulating wall interrupts the trading floor and encloses the pantry and creates a corridor connection with the media pod, a secluded place for the employees to congregate and have time out away from the workplace. Bright, multicolored pillows, video screens and Guitar Hero accent these play spaces. The new workplace environment will become the standard for future offices in London and other bond trading centers.
