room & board "Come in, be inspired" declares national retail giant Room & Board. For their first store on the East Coast, Room & Board selected a landmark building in New York City's SoHo district. The inspiration and challenge in the space was to achieve a horizontal flow in the four story building. This was accomplished through the placement of a grand, open stair along the back wall of the building, allowing light to flood in through the courtyard windows and creating a welcoming vertical circulation path. The building's landmark facade was fully restored from earliest archival photos and the interior was stripped down to highlight the original detailing.
